HP Tuners universal credits are a digital currency used to license and tune vehicle control modules with HP Tuners' devices. They are compatible with modern HP Tuners interfaces, including the MPVI2, MPVI2+, and MPVI3, and can be used on any supported vehicle, regardless of make, model, or year.
How the credit system works
- Licensing
- To tune a vehicle's engine control module (ECM) or transmission control module (TCM), you must license it using credits.
- A license is a one-time purchase for a specific vehicle's computer. Once a module is licensed, you can tune it an unlimited number of times with your HP Tuners device.
- Cost
- The number of universal credits required varies by vehicle and the specific module you wish to tune.
- Basic ECM/PCM licenses for many cars cost two credits, while some newer or more advanced vehicles may require four or more.
- Activation
- Credits are purchased from HP Tuners or an authorized dealer.
- To apply the credits, you download the VCM Suite software, connect your MPVI3 device to your computer, and "resync" the interface while connected to the internet.
- Comparison to MPVI1 credits
- Universal credits replaced the older, make-specific credit system used for the original MPVI interface.
- With older MPVI devices, you had to purchase credits specific to a manufacturer, like "GM credits" or "Ford credits".
Purchasing universal credits
- Visit the HP Tuners website or an authorized dealer.
- Purchase the number of credits you need. You will need to provide the serial number for your MPVI device during checkout.
- Once the purchase is complete, your device's interface needs to be resynced to show the new credits.
Important note: All credit purchases are final and non-refundable.
